Sama Uyghur Cuisine (Union City, CA)

Sama Uyghur Cuisine (Union City, CA) - I've had halal Chinese food before, but I'd always hear people talking about Muslim Chinese food, as if it was something that was very specific. As I got older, I learned more about the Uyghurs, a Turkic ethnic minority group in China, who are predominantly Muslim. I always [...]

Bayfood’s Top 10 Recipes of the Decade

Instead of doing a top ten list of places I ate in the year like I usually do, I thought I'd go all out and do a decade long round up of some of my favorite posts on the blog! Bayfood has technically been around since 2010, back when it was a really casual Tumblr [...]

Cafe Ohlone (Berkeley, CA)

Cafe Ohlone (Berkeley, CA) - When you hear Californian cuisine, you probably thing fresh and farm to table, right? What if there was a way to try the original Californian cuisine - the food of Native Americans who were first on this land in this state? You can do that at mak-'amham, the first Ohlone food [...]

A Baked Joint (Washington, D.C.)

A Baked Joint (Washington D.C.) - Whenever I'm traveling, I always have to do some research about wherever I'm going (even if it's a place I've been to more than once). A lot can change in five years, and that's very true for D.C. I actually found this bakery and cafe through Instagram (shout-out to [...]

Factory Tea Bar (Fremont, CA)

Factory Tea Bar (Fremont, CA) - Blogger event  meet ups make me a little nervous tbh. It’s intimidating meeting other people who super creative and social when you aren’t always the latter. Luckily, I’ve met a few of the other bloggers in attendance before - including Michael from Between Balloons, who organized the whole thing! [...]

IT ME

A Bay Area native encountering food from all over the Bay Area (and more on occasion!). I watch far too much TV for my own good, spend too many hours on the internet looking at clothes, memes, and Wikipedia, laugh a little too hard at celebrity gossip, drool at pictures of food and travel that my friends post on Facebook & Instagram, and sleep at the worst times possible.

Weekend coffee = latte art attempts. I think I still need a bit of practice. 🤔
My ideal day starts with a morning coffee and I stopped by @alchemistcoffeelab for that boost ☕️
April: ninth heart transplant anniversary; Eid al-Fitr; unwelcome 90 degree weather. 🥵 oh and some of my favorite people’s birthdays in between.
Last year for my heart transplant anniversary, my sister made me a chocolate smash heart! Filled with some of my favorite chocolates, of course 🍫😏
Honestly shocked these gorgeous almond blossoms didn’t activate my allergies. 🤧
The rare weekday bagel and coffee. 🥯☕️⁣
