St. Roch Market (New Orleans, LA)

St. Roch Market (New Orleans, Louisiana) - Originally constructed in the 1800s, St. Roch was an open air market for vendors. It eventually fell into disuse by the 1990s but was renovated into the modern food hall it is today in 2014. Today, they have a multitude of vendors and local goods inside. It’s near the Bywater/Marigny [...]

Cochon (New Orleans, LA)

Cochon (New Orleans, Louisiana) - I’m still not sure why we ended up at a restaurant that’s basically renowned for their pork dishes, but we did, especially considering the fact that practically everyone in the group does not eat pork. But we still found a bunch of good things to eat! Our waitress was also super [...]

District Donuts (New Orleans, LA)

District Donuts Sliders Brew (New Orleans, LA) - I love donuts. District Donuts was another spot I saw on multiple travel lists. So naturally, I added it to the itinerary! District Donuts is on Magazine Street, which is another trendy strip in NOLA with good restaurants and shops. Every area seems to have its own charm, [...]

Sylvain (New Orleans, LA)

Sylvain (New Orleans, LA) - Pretty sure everything in the French Quarter is delicious, and Sylvain most definitely exceeded our high expectations. I had seen it on a couple of travel lists and saw it on Joy the Baker’s guide to NOLA as well. I knew it had to be worth checking out. Sylvain is tucked away [...]

Cafe du Monde (New Orleans, LA)

Cafe du Monde (New Orleans, CA) - Does going to New Orleans even count if you don’t stop by Cafe Du Monde? Exactly. I actually ended up going twice - once after dinner and the morning we left - and each time was just as delicious. Cafe Du Monde is open 24 hours and they’re [...]

IT ME

A Bay Area native encountering food from all over the Bay Area (and more on occasion!). I watch far too much TV for my own good, spend too many hours on the internet looking at clothes, memes, and Wikipedia, laugh a little too hard at celebrity gossip, drool at pictures of food and travel that my friends post on Facebook & Instagram, and sleep at the worst times possible.

A little chand raat at home ✨🌙 Chand Raat (which literally translates to “Moon Night”) is the night before Eid where people check to see if the new moon’s arrived - signaling that Ramadan is ending and Eid is here. In Pakistan and other South Asian countries, women will put mehndi on and do their last minute prep such as making dessert for the next day!
