EUREKA! (Berkeley, CA) – I’ve been to Eureka a couple of times already and I’ve had a great experience every time. The first time I went, it was right before I started a couple of internships up in Berkeley.
It was pretty empty when I came in on a weekday afternoon, so it was nice to have the restaurant to ourselves and we received quick and quality service. It was pretty early in the morning, but I was so ready to eat a delicious burger!
We ordered Onion Rings, which was the best decision, because look how giant they were! They were crispy and well seasoned. We also ordered the Truffle Fries, with truffle salt, parmesan, green onion, and white truffle cheese sauce. It was really creamy and hearty.
My favorite of the starters, however, was the Mac n’ Cheese. It was made with orecchiette, a three-cheese sauce, and Fritos. It also comes with bacon, but we took that out. I haven’t had this good of a mac n’ cheese in a long time. The cheese sauce was so creamy and the Fritos made it extra crispy and salty! I was ready to eat the whole bowl.
My sister ordered the Balsamic Steak Salad, with a flat iron steak, shoestring onion ring, blue cheese, cherry tomato, grilled red onion, and oregano mustard vinaigrette.
I ordered the Fresno Fig Burger that comes with fig marmalade, melted goat cheese, bacon, tomato, red onion, arugula, and spicy porter mustard, and I omitted the bacon and mustard. It was still a fantastic burger – the patty was thick and juicy and the fig marmalade is what really made the burger unique. And I don’t even really like figs!
