Foreigner Cafe (San Mateo, CA)

Foreigner Cafe (San Mateo, CA)

Foreigner Cafe (San Mateo, CA) - It can be hard finding a place to meet up with friends when everyone lives in different parts of the Bay Area. We eventually settled on meeting on the peninsula, and I thought of Foreigner Cafe as a brunch spot for us to gather. I first came across it [...]

Mr. East Kitchen (San Francisco, CA)

Mr. East Kitchen (San Francisco, CA) - I was really excited when Mr. East Kitchen invited me to come out to try their food! They describe their food as simplified Vietnamese cuisine - and as someone who hasn't eaten too much Vietnamese food, I was ready to try everything! I liked that there were a [...]

Thursday Kitchen (New York, NY)

Thursday Kitchen (New York, NY) - This was our last dinner in New York - and it was my favorite. The vibe was fun, the food was fantastic - and having one last meal with all of my friends was really nice. My kewl Brooklyn friends had been talking about Thursday Kitchen all weekend, so [...]

B Street & Vine (San Mateo, CA)

B Street & Vine (San Mateo, CA) - In search of a place to meet up with a few of my friends after a monotonous day at work, we settled on B Street & Vine. It was a midpoint for the both of us, and after being told that this was a place that had [...]

Winsome (Los Angeles, CA)

Winsome (Los Angeles, CA) - Upon suggestion from my cousins, we made a reservation at Winsome for Sunday brunch. I’ve never been to Silverlake, so I was excited to explore the area! Except, Winsome is right next to Siverlake, since it’s actually in Echo Park. More accurately, it’s in the Forgotten Edge of Echo Park - [...]

IT ME

A Bay Area native encountering food from all over the Bay Area (and more on occasion!). I watch far too much TV for my own good, spend too many hours on the internet looking at clothes, memes, and Wikipedia, laugh a little too hard at celebrity gossip, drool at pictures of food and travel that my friends post on Facebook & Instagram, and sleep at the worst times possible.

Ramadan Mubarak! Today's also my 7th heart transplant anniversary so there's multiple things to be grateful for. ❤️ Though I don't really have an "illness" anymore, I'm not able to fast because I take medication (which requires water - and obligatory "not even water" comment), there’s much more to Ramadan than that. I just shared a multi-slide infographic about Ramadan in my IG stories which gives a great overview of this month.⁣
Digging through my ~archives~ (aka my external hard drive) and found these pics of when I stopped by The Well in August 2019 before visiting a friend. I tried the Cardamom MCT Coffee and the only dairy option at the time was coconut milk so... this was not for me. 😂 MCT oil also has coconut in it so it was just too much for me along with the cardamom. I'm not a big coconut flavor person, in case you haven't realized, lol.⁣
Last week, I was about to go write a blog post about my visit to Playt in Hayward, but apparently they closed recently. 😔 I was actually supposed to go again a week before lockdown started for brunch but I'd already stopped going out by then. Enjoy these pictures of Southern fried chicken with smoked gouda mac n' cheese and braised greens, Jamaican chicken skewers, Cajun spiced fries, and what's most likely lemonade bc I can't remember what the drinks were 😂 but I enjoyed everything!
Throwback to when my Dadi (my dad’s mom) sent us mithai (sweets) from Pakistan after one of my cousins had his first kid earlier this year. You’ll find mithai (which is a catch-all term because there’s so many kinds!) at big celebrations like a holiday or to mark special occasions.⁣
On March 26, 1790, the Naturalization Act was signed into law, prohibiting non-white people from becoming citizens in the United States. Over 200 years later, multiple communities are still suffering from the effects of racism our country was founded upon.⁣
I know it's Taco Tuesday, but you should definitely get tacos tomorrow because it's Birria Wednesday at @elhalalamigos! I'm so excited that halal Mexican food has started to pop up in the last couple of years in the Bay Area. I've been following El Halal Amigos for so long, and finally checked it out a few weeks back - and it was delicious. 🤩 I love the crispy, meaty tacos dipped in the consomé stew *and* dipped in their spicy NAR sauce is just *chef's kiss*. Not only do they have beef birria but they now serve chicken birria as well, which I ended up preferring! Check out the latest blog post for more info and photos. 🌮
