How to support the Bay Area community during the COVID-19 pandemic

Uh, a lot has rapidly changed in the past couple of weeks. I have personally been really freaked out by how this situation has progressed – as a human on this planet, a U.S. citizen, as a high risk and immunocompromised individual, and on behalf of my high risk parents and relatives.

At this point in time, I am privileged enough to be able to work from home, thus having an income and having health insurance. I also have someone to get my groceries and other necessities since I can’t go out and get them for myself.

However, there are so many people out there, where this is not their reality. Either their jobs are gone, their hours have been reduced, or they may actually be working overtime as part of an essential business. There are elderly and immunocompromised people who don’t have a support system nearby (or at all) that can help them in these unusual times. Small business owners such as restaurants, coffee shops, crafters, etc. are suffering so badly that they may disappear by the time this is all said and done.

I’ve seen so many of my friends, local media/publications, and other bloggers I follow share so many great resources for those that are affected and ways that we can help them. I’m hoping this one, centralized post will be a great way to give others a list of resources should they need it and/or want to donate! I just want to be clear that for the most part, I did not compile these lists, I’m grateful for all of the people that took the time to do this! I’ll continue to add links as I come across them.
